Report Cards Coming Home!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!  Report cards are coming home Monday, February 11.  Along with them will be tests/work that support the grades your student has on his/her report card.  Please take time to see in what areas your child may benefit from extra support from home.  Often, Quarter 2 will show a little drop in the number of 4s achieved on report cards.  Don't be concerned if that is your student's case.  Quarter 3 usually is indicative of the growth in maturity second graders often show after the middle of the year in 2nd grade. Many students have already begun to show improvement in effort this quarter.

We are continuing our work in Place Value Addition this week, practicing the addition of three 2-digit numbers. Our EL unit is focusing on pollinators.  Everyone is very excited about plants, flowers, fruits and pollinators right now.  Remember to have students work on their Economics Day project they will offer for "sale" at the end of the unit.  It involves so much less stress to spread out the activity instead of doing all at the last minute.

Remember to sign your child's reading log EVERY night.  It is our classroom's WIG as well as our grade level WIG this quarter.  It also noticeably improves fluency.

Thanks for all of you who could come out to the Awards Day Ceremony last Friday.  The students really enjoyed it.

Have a great week!
