December Fun!

So, it's been a fun, stress-filled, exciting time in our class!  Stress often gets intense for students around the holidays, so we've tried to do some stress relieving activities this week.  As we finished up our tests, we did a few things to get ready for 3rd Quarter.  We talked about 3-D shapes vs. 2-D shapes.  We planned winter castles that had to contain at least 1 rectangular prism, 1 cylinder, and 1 cone.  As they made their plan, we integrated writing into our project. They had to write a brief history of their castle.  When the castle was completed, they wrote a story involving the people who live their.  Today, when someone completes their story, they may collaborate with a neighboring village and begin to build bridges between the "table communities".  It's fun to stop and do something a little different to spark imagination and a love for learning.  Thanks so much for all the gifts you have showered me with! Have a Merry Christmas!
